Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has earned a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell started as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), in Washington DC. Within two years she was hired by NBC News as a Washington reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was named Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign correspondent in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president between 1981 and 1988. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including budget reform, tax reform as well as the Iran Contra saga. She traveled frequently along with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
